Your appointment starts with a short consultation. Your aesthetician will ask what you want treated, how much you want taken off, and whether you have waxed before, then talk you through the sequence so nothing comes as a surprise.
We use hard wax on coarse, dense hair and on sensitive areas like the Manzilian, because it grips the hair rather than the skin and lifts away without a strip. Broader areas such as the back, chest, and legs are usually treated with soft wax, which covers ground faster. Most men are in and out in twenty to forty five minutes depending on the service.
Come with about a quarter inch of growth, roughly two to three weeks after shaving. Shorter than that and the wax has nothing to grip. Much longer and we may trim first. Skip heavy sun exposure, exfoliating scrubs, and retinol for a day or two beforehand, and plan on loose clothing afterward.
Both remove hair at the root and both last about the same length of time. The difference is the medium and the way it comes off.
Choose waxing if you want the faster option, especially across large areas like a full back or full legs. Wax grips coarse hair firmly, which is why it is our default for dense growth and for the Manzilian.
Choose sugaring if you have sensitive or reactive skin, a history of ingrown hairs, or you have found wax uncomfortable in the past. Our sugar paste is applied by hand and flicked off in the direction the hair grows, which makes it less abrasive on the skin surface. It also works with less growth, only four to six days.

The Manzilian, our take it all male Brazilian, is the service men ask about most and worry about most. It is also one our aestheticians perform every day, so you are not the first person through that room.
The service covers the full front, back, and everything between, and you decide how much comes off. Some clients take everything, others leave a defined line. We use hard wax throughout and work in small sections, which is what keeps it manageable.
Expect roughly thirty to forty five minutes for a first appointment and less once you are on a regular schedule. Book every four to five weeks and each visit gets easier, because the regrowth comes back finer and the follicles weaken.

Our full male Brazilian. Front, back, and everything between, taken down as far as you want it. Hard wax throughout, worked in small sections, and typically thirty to forty five minutes for a first appointment.
Shoulder blades to waistline in a single service. The area most men cannot manage on their own, and one of the quicker ones to wax because the growth runs in a consistent direction. Half back is $68 if the growth stops higher up.
Chest and stomach together, either taken clean or tidied to a defined line. Book the chest on its own at $65 if the abdomen is not a concern, and add shoulders at $45 when the growth carries across.
Hip to ankle, front and back. A standing appointment for cyclists, runners, and swimmers, and worth pairing with a back or chest service in the same visit. Lower leg alone is $75 and upper leg is $87.
Our sugar equivalent of the Manzilian, applied by hand and removed in the direction the hair grows. The better choice for sensitive skin or a history of ingrown hairs, and it needs only four to six days of growth.

Most men book every four to five weeks. Scheduling your next appointment before you leave keeps you on that cycle, which is what keeps the regrowth fine.
There is a sharp moment as the wax lifts, and then it is over. Most men find it far less bad than expected, and the first appointment is always the worst one. Hair grows back finer with each visit, so by the third or fourth session the discomfort drops noticeably. Taking ibuprofen an hour beforehand and going easy on caffeine that morning both help.

Wax is faster and grips coarse hair harder, so it is the default for backs, chests, and legs. Sugaring is gentler on the skin surface and the better option if you get ingrown hairs or have reactive skin. Both last about the same length of time.
Skip the gym, hot tubs, saunas, and direct sun for twenty four hours, wear loose clothing, and hold off on scented products in the area. Start exfoliating gently after two or three days to keep ingrown hairs down.
Yes. Our Rockridge location on College Avenue offers the full men’s menu and is the closest Cocoon for clients in Oakland, Berkeley, Piedmont, and Emeryville. Pricing there differs slightly from our San Francisco locations.
Tell your aesthetician at consultation. We can patch test, switch you to sugar paste, and adjust which wax we use. If you are taking isotretinoin or using a topical retinoid, wait until you have been off it for the interval your doctor recommends before booking.
